Alison Liewen (Broyles), MD

Position: Family Medicine - Physician

When you meet Dr. Alison Liewen, you’ll notice how closely she listens and she works with you to create a clear, thoughtful plan that addresses all your concerns. Her goal is to offer evidence-based guidance while helping you feel informed and empowered in every step of your care.

A smiling woman stands in front of a modern building with large windows, showcasing a casual yet friendly demeanor.

Dr. Liewen studied molecular biology at Harvard University, later worked in cancer research, and spent a pivotal year in rural Uganda, which inspired her path into family medicine. She earned her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and completed her family medicine residency in Duluth, Minnesota.

Since then, she has practiced in northern California and Alaska, often as the only physician in small communities. Her clinical interests include women’s health, chronic disease management, addiction medicine, and global health.

Drawn to Leadville’s close-knit community, she is excited to make it home. Outside of work, you’ll find her trail running, bikepacking, backcountry skiing, or playing guitar — usually with her husband and their dog nearby.

With Dr. Liewen, you have a provider who values continuity, connection, and truly listening.

“I take the time to genuinely listen and make a plan that covers all of a patient's concerns. I know that if they are bringing something up to me, it’s important to them.”
