The Best Care For Mr. Best
“St. Vincent Health helped me so I could finish healing at home with confidence.”
Earl Best, a retired New York State Trooper and Leadville resident, was recently caught off guard by a medical condition which led to infection. After a ride in the ambulance to St. Vincent Health, an E.R. visit and subsequent inpatient stay – Earl and his wife Mary Ann Graham-Best are delighted with Earl’s continued recovery.
The option to heal at home is what he wanted most. The Bests are certain that the care received from the ambulance team and hospital-based clinical teams led to Earl’s ability to go home – and not to an out-of-town rehab facility.
The Bests point out that big contributors to Earl’s success was inpatient physical therapy and occupational therapy at St. Vincent Health, these assisted Earl in building strength and performing the tasks of daily living before being discharged. Additionally, the high ratio of nursing staff to patients was very reassuring and promoted thorough communication about Earl’s condition and next steps toward recovery. The Bests are also thankful for Bristlecone Home Health’s visiting physical therapist which took over after Earl was released from the hospital.
“They took really good care of me in a comfortable room with outstanding mountain views” said Earl. “If it wasn’t for being in a hospital, I would have enjoyed a longer stay.”
